"The country is still in its baby shoes in terms of tourism and it is quite an insider tip!"

Written by Hannes Oppermann (translated from German), November 2021 (referring to a self-drive safari in June/July 2021)

We visited Uganda 2021 in June/July which is a perfect time of the year to travel. The country is still in its baby shoes in terms of tourism and is quite an insider tip!

Kampala, the busy capital, might not be everybody's taste. It can simply be avoided because you mainly want to go into the bush and see the primates. We skipped the city because you arrive in Entebbe and from there you can bypass Kampala on the brand new bypass. During our self-drive safari, we always felt very safe and comfortable.
One does feel totally welcome and warmly received at all times. The people are very friendly and grateful, the cuisine is a dream and everything is very hygienic and clean.
The sometimes long distances are compensated by magnificent destinations and forgotten the moment you arrive.
Thanks Across Africa for looking after us before, during and after the safari until we boarded our airplane home.
For us, this is a country that makes us want to return, there is so much still to explore. We will be back!
