General

At 155 km², Mahé is the largest island in Seychells and home to the bijou capital city, Victoria, as well as the international airport and around 80.000 people: some 90% of the country’s total population. It’s a lush, mountainous place with towering granite peaks, up to 905m high at Morne Seychellois. Dense cloud forest covers large parts of the interior, and drops down to a coastline strung with sweeping sandy beaches and picture-perfect coves.

The joy of Mahé is the variety the island offers: yes, more beach hopping than you could possibly squeeze into a two week holiday, but also waterfalls, jungle, mountain walks and stunning viewpoints, with a whole host of activities from rock climbing to sea kayaking and scuba diving. The beaches are wonderful and many are on a par with those found on Praslin and La Digue, but if you like to mix your beach break with exploration and adventure Mahé is a delight to drive around and find your own corner.

Seychelles

Seychelles

To anybody having visions of a tropical paradise and so happens to be ‘just married’, the Seychells must be the first option to consider, its pristine talcum powder beaches and azure waters complemented by top rated beach resorts and hotels are the perfect hideout for just such an occasion. Unless the discerning traveller is also interested in scuba diving, coastal and jungle walks, boat excursions, Ecotourism or a vibrant art scene, in which case one might as well bring the rest of the family along!

Eco – tourism is quite a priority in the Seychells with marine parks and natural island reserves dotting the archipelago, offering opportunities to explore this water wonder world beyond the ‘mandatory’ suntan and beach parties. And all of this is more affordable than one might think. In addition to the first rate, five star, ultra-luxurious experience, there are plenty of low cost, self catering and family run guest houses to chose from.

And let’s not forget to mention the vibrant and very diverse cultural scene of the archipelago, with international art from painting, sculpting to jewellery as well as indigenous Creole art and crafts competing for the visitor’s visual attention.

With such a dreamlike setting, who can possibly pass on the opportunity to relax, recharge and enjoy this indian ocean paradise straight from a fairy tale!
